3) How Does A Universal Coupling Work?

- A cross shaft is also known as Cardan joint
Now back to the working mechanism, the two yokes are close to each other. A cross shaft passes through the holes of yokes and connects two yokes.
When we rotate one end, the other end also rotates due to hinges even if they are not inclined.
The flange is present at both ends of universal coupling. You can connect the driving shaft at one end and the driven shaft at another end of the universal coupling. When you rotate the driving shaft, the rotatory motion will pass through universal coupling and transmit to the driven shaft. Flanges will allow rotation even if the shafts are not inclined.

7) How To Install A Universal Coupling?
All of LYNNUO universal couplings are easy to install. They all come with a guidebook to ensure easy installation. All the universal couplings are delivered fully assembled.
You can also follow the below steps to install a universal coupling;
- Raise universal couplings in a horizontal state using only hemp or nylon ropes.
- The forkhead at both heads of the spline shaft and spline sleeve should be in the same phase.
- Clean any grease, rust, anti-rust spray, and dust from the flange mounting surface.
- Put bolts in the flange from the driven shaft side of the flange and tight them from the universal coupling side of the flange.
- Use grade 10.9 high strength bolts and grade 10 nuts for flange connection.
- Apply MoS2-free grease spray on bolts threaded portion before screwing nuts.
- Use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts to a specific value. See the table below for more information.

Checking: Keep checking your universal coupling periodically. You can look for these aspects during checking:

- Remove all dirt or anything from universal coupling
- Mark the coupling parts with white part to remember alignment
- Prevent any dust or foreign agent from entering the bearings or spline
Clean all parts. Bearings and cross shafts must be cleaned in a separate container with separate liquid. Check the parts carefully after cleaning. Repair or replace any damaged parts.
For assembling, join the parts in reverse order of disassembly. Follow the white markings for perfect alignment. The fork heads should be in the same phase. Tighten all bolts with torque wrench according to defined pre-tightening torque.
